Catholic Charities Community Interpreter Services provides interpreters/translator services in 50 world languages, hiring contractors from the same communities. Interpreters, new to CIS, are provided training using an established curriculum designed by World Education. In addition to pre-service training, interpreters are encouraged to attend in-service sessions and special events to help enhance their interpreting skills.
Clients include several state agencies and departments, as well as nonprofit organizations, health care facilities, cities and towns, schools, law enforcement agencies, and for profit businesses.
The program is funded through fee for service.
