We are a community action agency that encompasses all the needs of the community that it serves. We periodically do need assessments and surveys to determine what we are doing right and what can be improved and determine if there are any new needs that we need to address. Originally established under the auspices of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, The Fall River Community Action Agency (FRCAA) was born. FRCAA served only the City of Fall River. In 1965, FRCAA was asked to expand its jurisdiction to a metro regional area. This resulted in the creation of a private, non-profit agency that became known as Citizens for Citizens, Inc. (CFC) CFC is the designated Community Action Program (CAP) for the Greater Fall River and Greater Taunton areas. Greater Fall River includes the city of Fall River and the towns of Freetown, Somerset, Swansea and Westport. Greater Taunton service area includes the cities of Taunton, Attleboro and the towns of Berkley, Dighton, Rehoboth, Seekonk and Lakeville. It is CFC's mission to: A. Assist members of the low-income community by the provision of services and programs, which attack the cycle of poverty. B. Advocate on behalf of low-income people with governmental agencies, private agencies and the community-at-large. C. Be a major player in the Human Services Network so that all present a unified front in attacking the causes and effects of poverty.
