Kit Clark Senior Services Last Updated: January 29, 2004 Name of Organization/Institution: Kit Clark Senior Services Keywords: elders, mental health Description of best practice: Because we cannot find bi-lingual, bi-cultural clinicians for our geriatric mental health clinic, Kit Clark offers Cape Verdean and Vietnamese seniors’ therapy in a group setting with a trained interpreter, who is also an outreach worker. They are also seen individually with an interpreter for medication management with a psychiatrist. The program results in good mental health services for seniors who find it very difficult to access the care. This program works well because it gives these seniors their first opportunity to access mental health services when they have mental health issues such as depression or post traumatic stress.
